The 6 Days Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic, safest, and most successful routes for climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its beautiful landscapes, smooth acclimatization profile, and higher summit success rates, the Lemosho Route is perfect for climbers who seek a premium trekking experience.
At Impala Explorer, we recommend this route for trekkers who want to enjoy Kilimanjaro’s diverse ecological zones—from lush rainforest, heath, and alpine desert to the arctic summit—while maintaining a strong chance of reaching Uhuru Peak (5895m). The 6-day option covers approximately 46 kilometers (28.5 miles), with success rates ranging from 85% to 95% depending on acclimatization.
Arrive in Tanzania and meet your Impala Explorer driver at the airport. You’ll be transferred to a hotel in Moshi town, where you’ll receive a full briefing from your mountain guide, who will also check your trekking gear. Spend the rest of the day relaxing or exploring Moshi before your adventure begins.
After breakfast, transfer to Londorossi Gate for registration with TANAPA (Tanzania National Parks Authority). Begin your trek through Kilimanjaro’s lush rainforest zone, watching for wildlife like Colobus monkeys. Arrive at Mti Mkubwa Camp, where your support team will have prepared your tents, hot drinks, and dinner. Your Lemosho Route climb officially starts today.
Ascend through the heather and moorland zone, crossing small streams and enjoying views of the Shira Plateau. Reach Shira 2 Camp, nestled beside a stream with stunning vistas of Kibo’s Western Breach and glaciers. Be prepared for a chilly night, as temperatures drop below freezing.
Today is crucial for acclimatization. Hike towards Lava Tower and experience the effects of higher altitude. After lunch at the tower, descend to Barranco Camp, located below the famous Barranco Wall. This descent allows for proper acclimatization and improves summit success chances.
Climb the impressive Great Barranco Wall and continue through the alpine desert to Barafu Camp, your base before the summit attempt. After an early dinner, rest and prepare your gear. Your Impala Explorer guide will provide a summit briefing to ensure you're ready for the final push.
At midnight, begin your ascent toward Uhuru Peak, passing Stella Point (5685m) to witness a breathtaking sunrise. Celebrate your achievement at the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest point. Descend to Barafu Camp for lunch, then continue to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.
Enjoy a festive celebration with your trekking crew. After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your Kilimanjaro climbing certificate—green for Stella Point or gold for Uhuru Peak. After lunch in Mweka Village, drive back to Moshi for a hot shower and celebration dinner.
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your journey home or continue your Tanzanian adventure with a safari or Zanzibar beach holiday with Impala Explorer.
Climb Mount Kilimanjaro with confidence. Choose Impala Explorer for a safe, scenic, and unforgettable trekking experience via the Marangu Route.
