Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park

Your adventure begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel in Arusha by your professional driver-guide. After a short briefing, you will head southwest to Tarangire National Park, a gem known for its vast landscapes dotted with giant baobab trees and the Tarangire River that attracts an incredible variety of wildlife. Upon arrival, embark on a thrilling game drive where you can spot large herds of elephants, prides of lions resting under acacia trees, graceful giraffes, and a variety of antelope species. Tarangire is also a paradise for bird lovers, boasting over 550 species. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the heart of the park, then continue exploring before heading to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park (Central & Migration Area)

After an early breakfast, you will depart for the legendary Serengeti National Park, passing through the scenic highlands of Ngorongoro. As you descend into the endless plains of the Serengeti, the real magic begins. This day offers a combination of en-route game viewing and a journey towards the heart of the migration zone, depending on the season. In Central Serengeti, you will witness resident predators such as lions, leopards, and cheetahs, while during migration months, the plains come alive with thousands of wildebeest and zebras moving in search of fresh grazing. Arrive at your tented camp in the late afternoon for dinner and an overnight stay, surrounded by the unique sounds of the African wilderness.

Day 3: Full-Day Serengeti Migration Experience

Today is dedicated to experiencing one of the greatest spectacles on Earth – the Great Migration. Depending on the time of year, you may find yourself in the north, witnessing dramatic Mara River crossings. where wildebeest risk crocodile-filled waters, or in the south, where the calving season brings new life and attracts predators in abundance. Your day will begin at dawn with a game drive that maximizes your chances of seeing action as predators are most active in the early hours. Continue exploring the Serengeti’s varied landscapes, from golden grasslands to rocky outcrops (kopjes) where lions often rest. A picnic lunch in the wild keeps you close to the action all day. In the evening, return to camp for a warm meal and share stories of the day’s sightings by the campfire.

Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area

After breakfast, enjoy one last early morning game drive in the Serengeti as the sun paints the plains in golden hues. Keep your camera ready for the resident wildlife, including elephants, hyenas, and perhaps a leopard lounging in a tree. Mid-morning, begin your journey to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along the way, you can choose to visit a traditional Maasai village and learn about their culture and way of life. By late afternoon, you will arrive at the crater rim, where your lodge offers breathtaking panoramic views of the world’s largest unbroken caldera. Dinner and overnight are spent in this unique location, preparing you for an unforgettable crater experience the next day.

Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Manyara Area

Rise early for a descent into the Ngorongoro Crater, often called “Africa’s Garden of Eden” due to its dense concentration of wildlife. The crater floor is home to the “Big Five” – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and the rare black rhino – as well as hippos, wildebeest, zebras, and flamingos along the lakeshores. With its varied habitats, the crater offers some of the most rewarding game viewing in Tanzania. After a picnic lunch near the hippo pool, ascend the crater walls and drive to the Lake Manyara area for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 6: Lake Manyara National Park – Arusha

Your final safari day begins with an early morning game drive in Lake Manyara National Park, a scenic park famous for its tree-climbing lions, large flocks of flamingos, and diverse landscapes ranging from groundwater forests to open plains. Keep an eye out for baboons, elephants, and hippos in the shallow waters. After an eventful morning, you will enjoy lunch before making the short drive back to Arusha, where you will be dropped off at your hotel or the airport for your onward journey, marking the end of your unforgettable Serengeti Migration Safari with Impala Explorer.
